CM Chandrababu Naidu Reaffirms Commitment to Muslim Welfare, Economic Upliftment, and Waqf Protection at State Iftar Dinner

Vijayawada, March 27, 2025: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu participated in the Iftar dinner organized by the state government at the A+ Convention in Vijayawada. He offered special prayers along with Muslim religious leaders and later addressed the gathering. We will work towards the economic upliftment of underprivileged Muslim families. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has always supported the Muslim community. We will ensure the protection of Waqf Board properties. It brings me great joy to participate in the Iftar dinner with my Muslim brothers. I have been attending Iftar celebrations for 40 years. Ramadan is a sacred month that embodies discipline, charity, and spiritual contemplation. I wholeheartedly appreciate the devotion of my Muslim brothers who observe strict fasting throughout this holy month. It is a sacred tradition. Muslims pray for the welfare of society during Ramadan. The Quran teaches that those who are financially stable should support the poor," he said. Strong Bond Between TDP and the Muslim Community TDP has a strong bond with the Muslim community. During the united Andhra Pradesh era, Muslims benefited the most under TDP’s governance. It was N.T. Rama Rao who first established the Finance Corporation for Muslims. We made Urdu the second official language in the united state. We built the Hajj House in Hyderabad to facilitate travel to Mecca. TDP has actively worked to protect Waqf Board properties. We established an Urdu University in Hyderabad during the united Andhra Pradesh period and another in Kurnool after the bifurcation. We constructed the Hajj House in Kadapa. Plans to build a Hajj House in Vijayawada were halted by the previous government. Between 2014 and 2019, we provided financial assistance under the 'Dulhan Scheme' to 32,722 minority brides, amounting to ₹163 crore. To ensure that no poor Muslim remains hungry during the festival, we introduced the Ramadan Tofa initiative," the CM stated. Honorarium for Imams and Muezzins as Promised in the Manifesto As promised in our manifesto, we have increased the honorarium for Imams to ₹10,000 and for Muezzins to ₹5,000. In the recent budget, we allocated ₹5,434 crore for Muslim minorities—an increase of ₹1,300 crore from the previous budget. We are committed to not only preserving communal harmony but also empowering Muslims in every way possible. Inspired by the spirit of Zakat, I urge everyone to contribute a portion of their earnings to help the poor. To eradicate poverty, we are launching the P4 program this month. Under this initiative, the top 10% of society will support the bottom 20% of the economically disadvantaged. Even today, many poor people struggle to afford three meals a day, access education, and escape financial inequality. My life’s mission is to stand by the underprivileged. That is why we are implementing the P4 policy to lift people out of poverty, said CM Chandrababu Naidu.
